Jean Titelouze
Jean Titelouze was a French organist of the early Baroque period. Born in Saint-Omer, probably in 1562 or 1563, he died in Rouen on October 25, 1633. He is generally considered the founder of the French organ school. The son of a musician, Titelouze came to Rouen at the age of 20, and he spent the rest of his life there. William Lawes
William Lawes was an English composer and musician. He was born at Salisbury in Wiltshire and was baptised on May 1 1602. He was the son of Thomas Lawes, a vicar choral at Salisbury Cathedral, and brother to Henry Lawes, a very successful composer in his own right. His patron, Edward Seymour, Earl of Hertford, apprenticed him to the composer John Coprario, which probably brought Lawes into contact with Charles, Prince of Wales at an early age. More »
Antonio Lotti
Antonio Lotti was an Italian composer of classical music. Lotti was born either in 1666 or 1667, in Venice or in Hanover . After studying with Giovanni Legrenzi, Lotti made his career at St Mark's Basilica in Venice, first as an alto singer, then as assistant to the second organist, then as second organist, then as first organist, and finally as ''maestro di cappella'', a position he held until his death. Jacopo Peri
Jacopo Peri was an Italian composer and singer of the transitional period between the Renaissance and Baroque styles, and is often called the inventor of opera. He wrote the first work to be called an opera today, ''Dafne'' , and also the first opera to have survived to the present day, ''Euridice'' . Peri was probably born in Rome, but studied in Florence with Cristofano Malvezzi, and went on to work in a number of churches there, both as an organist and as a singer. More »

Johann Christoph Bach , was a German composer of the Baroque period. He was born at Arnstadt, the son of Heinrich Bach, Johann Sebastian Bach's great uncle, hence he was Johann Sebastian's first cousin once removed. He was also the uncle of Maria Barbara Bach, J. S. Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck
Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck was a Dutch composer, organist, and pedagogue whose work straddled the end of the Renaissance and beginning of the Baroque eras. He was born in Deventer and died in Amsterdam. Many of his family were musicians—principally organists—and he is known to have studied with Jan Willemszoon Lossy as well as Zarlino, the famous composer and theorist, in Venice. John Blow
John Blow was an English composer and organist. His pupils included William Croft and Henry Purcell. Blow was probably born at North Collingham in Nottinghamshire. He became a chorister of the Chapel Royal, and distinguished himself by his proficiency in music. Orlando Gibbons was an English composer and organist of the late Tudor and early Jacobean periods. He was a leading composer in the England of his day. Gibbons was born in Oxford.
